Make Your Own Stick Vase Craft

Summer is here and maybe the kids are bored, well her is a great craft that is very inexpensive and fun for everyone. Either in your own back yard or take a walk around the neighborhood. The best part of this is you can make it totally your own or follow these instructions.
This is great for not only sticks but shells from the beach or maybe even for your wedding if you are having an outdoor wedding these would be great table decorations and you could do a bigger version for a centerpiece!
Here are some instructions from family fun.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

Sticks (about 1/4 inch in diameter), clippers, an empty plastic peanut butter jar (or other empty jar), thick rubber bands, raffia or ribbon, glue and pinecones (optional).

How To Make a Stick Vase

HOW IT'S DONE:

Break or snip your sticks to about an inch longer than the jar. Put two rubber bands around the jar, one inch from the top and bottom. Now begin tucking the sticks under both rubber bands, placing them as close as possible to each other. Once you've surrounded the jar with sticks, slide the rubber bands together at the jar's middle, then cover them with a decorative bow. Glue on a few pine cones, then fill the vase with flowers. For campers uninterested in flower arrangements, this vessel also makes a fine pencil holder.

Have fun with this craft and get creative the possibilities are endless!

SUMMER SAFETY

Summer is here and boy oh boy have we been busy! Camping, BBQ's, going to the lake, taking road trips all part of Summer fun in this household. July 4th is right around the corner and that means not only lots of fun out doors but also a day you should be extra safe around water the drowning statistics are alarming so here is some info on how to keep those kids safe.

Staying Close, Being Alert and Watching Children in and Around the Pool

  • Never leave a child unattended in a pool or spa and always watch your children closely around all bodies of water
  • Teach children basic water safety tips
  • Keep children away from pool drains, pipes and other openings to avoid entrapments
  • Have a telephone close by when you or your family are using a pool or spa
  • If a child is missing, look for him or her in the pool or spa first
  • Share safety instructions with family, friends and neighbors

Learning and Practicing Water Safety Skills

  • Learn how to swim and teach your child how to swim
  • Learn to perform CPR on children and adults, and update those skills regularly
  • Understand the basics of life-saving so that you can assist in a pool emergency

Having the Appropriate Equipment for Your Pool or Spa

  • Install a four-foot or taller fence around the pool and spa and use self-closing and self-latching gates; ask your neighbors to do the same at their pools
  • Install and use a lockable safety cover on your spa
  • If your house serves as a fourth side of a fence around a pool, install and use a door or pool alarm
  • Maintain pool and spa covers in good working order
  • Ensure any pool and spa you use has drain covers that comply with federal standards, and ask your pool service provider if you do not know
  • Have lifesaving equipment such as life rings, floats or a reaching pole available and easily accessible
Not only do water deaths rise at this time of year but also ATV deaths another fun summer activity out here in AZ and all over.
Here is some info to keep you safe.

CPSC offers the following guidelines to help riders recognize hazards and make riding both fun and safe:

  • All ATV drivers, adults and children, should take a hands-on ATV safety course from a certified instructor.
  • Always wear protective gear - especially a helmet - when riding ATVs.
  • Do not ride on a single-rider ATV as a passenger or carry a passenger if you drive one.
  • Never allow more people on any ATV than the vehicle was designed to carry.
  • Do not drive ATVs on paved roads. ATVs have solid rear axles, which make turning on paved surfaces difficult and dangerous and increase the risk of the ATV overturning or hitting another object, such as a tree or car.
  • Do not permit children younger than 16 years old to drive or ride adult ATVs. Children younger than 16 years old lack the developmental skills to safely drive adult ATVs, and more than 90 percent of all injuries to children involve this scenario. Likewise, children younger than 6 should never be on an ATV - either as a driver or passenger.

Pet Bunny

Looking for a fun and easy pet for your kids?
Well meet the newest member to our growing family, MILY!
Mily is super easy to care for and my girls love taking care of their new bunny I think it is good to have pets they can handle and take care of to teach them responsibility and compassion.
Forget the word Lap dog Mily loves to hop right on to your lap if you are sitting down. Mily loves Veggie bites but most the diet includes hay and grass with some fruits and veggies we have in the fridge and eat ourselves.
I know most people get a fish or something along those lines but I think a Bunny is a good choice kids can't pet fishes but they can pet Bunnies! They are less care than a dog, you can "potty train" bunnies too. So next time you are looking for a pet make sure to do your research and check out what would work best for your family so you have a pet that gets a good life and in return gives you Happiness.

Make a change for denver and Pit Bulls.

YOU CAN MAKE A CHANGE

Hi SGC Fans I am a huge Pit Bull Lover I have 2, one male and one female. I also have 2 small children who adore them they are part of my family and this makes me sad that a city can ban them! Denver would be a great place to have a Pit I would think, I mean they love to be active and when i think Denver I think of people being outsite and having fun out doors so why not have a sweet pitty join you in the beautiful out doors of Denver.
PLEASE go sign this petition it only takes about 30 seconds and will save LIVES!!!

Thanks You,
Owner of Stella Grace Creations

http://www.change.org/petitions/occupit-denver-the-city-of-denver-reexamine-the-validity-of-the-current-ban-on-pit-bulls

Why This Is Important
Since 1989, the city of Denver has banned all "Pit Bull" type dogs or any dog appearing to have the majority of physical characteristics of a "Pit Bull" (and every type of dog that the city's Animal Control has mis-identified as a "Pit Bull").

The ban is based on two incidents that occurred twenty two years ago. Since that time, the city has never been able to provide factual (untampered with) documentation as to the ban's effectiveness, they can provide no expert testimony that endorses this legislation, and every major animal welfare organization globally has denounced Denver's law as a means of providing public safety to its citizens.

We are asking citizens of Denver to demand city officials reexam the validity of the current ban on Pit Bulls, calling on Professional Veterinary Doctors, Behaviorists, Animal Control Officers, and Trainers (NOT EMPLOYED BY OR PAID FOR BY THE CITY OF DENVER) to consult on the review. More so, we ask that this review be held in public forum.

The results of this petition WILL NOT only be submitted to the city of Denver like petitions of the past... but also the Denver Post, Westword News, The Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, the Chicago Tribune and every other major news publication in the U.S.

Below is your opportunity to be heard for change in Denver. We are asking all Denver registered voters and citizens AND anyone who opposes such discriminatory laws to sign a petition if they agree that a review of the ban is in the citizens best interest.

The Team Pit-a-Full brochure is available for download. The brochure is full of facts and a time line of Denver's Pit Bull ban and its continuous failure. Down load it here:http://TeamPitAFull.org/Our_Mission.html
